Kurt Carr is a popular American gospel singer, composer, and Worship leader. He is currently serving as the Praise and Worship leader at The Fountain of Praise in Houston, TX. Prior to this, he also served as the Minister of Music at The First Baptist Church of Hartford. This was while Kurt was living in the city of Hartford, Connecticut. Kurt’s music and his dedication to serving the Almighty is something that makes him truly unique.
Early Life
Born and brought up in Hartford, Connecticut, Kurt was raised in a religious family. Worship and music played a very important role throughout his childhood. In his teenage years, Kurt was increasingly drawn to the church. He also became an active member of his church’s music department. However, Kurt always wanted to grow and achieve more in life. This made him enter the music program at the University of Connecticut. This is where Kurt Carr studied classical music and earned himself a Fine Arts degree.
Music Career
During the initial years of his music career, Kurt Carr was mentored by the legendary artist Richard Smallwood. Kurt also performed with Reverend James Cleveland and his ensemble throughout the late 1980s. In 1991, Kurt released his first album “Together”. The album was a collection of his compositions and arrangements. Eventually, in 1992, Kurt Carr decided to start his own record label called “GospoCentric”. Some of his albums that followed were “Serious About It!”, “Awesome Wonder”, and “No One Else”. In 2004, Kurt Carr signed onto Zomba Label Group and released the “One Church Project”.
Kurt Carr’s music is a soulful blend of melodious vocals and traditional gospel compositions. He has also performed in the White House for President George W. Bush on June 17, 2008. The Praise and Worship leader has also won several awards and nominations. This includes four Stellar Awards.
