Bishop Rance Allen was a world-renowned gospel artist who made a name for himself as the lead singer of the gospel music group The Rance Allen Group (formed in 1969), which featured his brothers Steve and Thomas Allen as well. The Rance Allen Group changed the sound of gospel music forever. The trio combined soul, jazz, and a bit of rock to create a fresh, innovative sound that ultimately led to Allen being dubbed as a “titan in contemporary gospel music.”
